Saturday announcement comes after a morning stop at High Peak Farmers’ Market and a local forum Friday

LAKE PLACID | While visiting the area Saturday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a $6 million State investment to replace the Long Building at the North Elba Showgrounds in Lake Placid.

The funding is aimed at ensuring the continued success of the internationally recognized Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows and was announced during the 55th annual horse shows, which generate $17.9 million in economic activity and support 164 jobs in the Adirondack region.

“I’ll always remember visiting Lake Placid as a kid and experiencing the wonders of this community, and it’s those experiences — shared by residents and tourists alike — that make investments like this one in the North Elba Showgrounds so important,” Gov. Hochul said Saturday afternoon after visiting the region overnight.

“This facility will create jobs and spur economic activity for generations of North Country residents, and I look forward to seeing the community grow alongside it into a brighter future.”
