North Country Clean Energy Hub Hosts 2026 Energy Zone at Potsdam Summerfest
Energy Efficiency Organizations Gather for Family-Friendly Event

Potsdam, N.Y.
 — The North Country Clean Energy Hub will host the Energy Zone at Potsdam Summerfest on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Ives Park, just off Main Street before the gazebo. Visitors can explore hands-on energy education, learn about low-cost programs that help households save money, and enter a free raffle to win an EGO electric string trimmer with battery and charger or a basket of DIY home energy‑saving supplies.

This year, the Energy Zone will feature a Cooling Station for festival‑goers to take a break from the heat, along with kid‑friendly energy science activities – from building and testing miniature water wheels to energy coloring sheets. The event is designed to make clean energy approachable, fun, and practical for families across the North Country.

“Summerfest is the perfect place to help people discover simple, meaningful ways to save energy and money,” says Hub Energy Advisor Louise Jensen. “The Energy Zone brings together local organizations who are committed to helping North Country residents make their homes more comfortable and affordable. Plus, people are often surprised by how many programs and tools are available to help them save.”

The Energy Zone is made possible through collaboration with GRO Energy Solutions of Watertown, N.Y., Coakley’s Home & Hardware of Canton, N.Y., the Clarkson University HEAT (CU Heat) training program, Liberty Energy & Water of Massena, N.Y, and the North Country Clean Energy Hub. Each partner will share tools, demonstrations, and information about programs that help residents reduce energy use and lower utility bills.

“Hands-on learning is one of the best ways to spark curiosity about emerging career paths,” adds Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) Hub Program Coordinator Bella Abbadessa. “Whether it’s a kid building a water wheel or an adult learning about heat pumps, we want everyone to walk away feeling empowered.”

Festival attendees are encouraged to stop by the Energy Zone to cool off, explore interactive activities, learn about energy‑saving opportunities, and enter to win prizes that support a more efficient home.

The North Country Clean Energy Hub (the Hub) is a team of organizations, supported by NYSERDA, working to assist people and businesses in adopting clean energy technology, utilizing energy efficiency programs, and finding jobs in the clean energy industry. These initiatives can save money, make homes healthier, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The Hub is led by the Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) with partners including Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County, Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County, and SUNY Canton.
