Small Business Energy Upgrade Initiative

ANCA is pleased to announce the pre-program launch of the Small Business Energy Upgrade Initiative through support from the National Grid Foundation. 

Beginning in late Spring 2026, we welcome small businesses, nonprofit organizations and economic development partners to engage in three initiatives summarized below.

 

For any small business, nonprofit organization and partner in ANCA’s 14-county service area*: Raymond Higby of Complete Care Chiropractic in Lowville, NY was awarded a REAP grant funding to purchase and install an energy-efficient air-source heat pump system for his business.

  • • Workshops and educational resources to build tools and skills to improve the safety, comfort and affordability of your business through electrical and energy improvements. Estimated launch in late Spring 2026.

 

For small businesses and nonprofit organizations that own the building from which they operate and are National Grid customers**:

  • • Tailored one-on-one consultation to improve energy efficiency and affordability for their business or organization. Estimated 20 consultations available, beginning Summer 2026. 
  • • $190,000 will be made available for grants to complete select electrical and energy efficiency improvements at their business or organization. Estimated 10 awards averaging $15,000 each, beginning September 2026.

** Priority for these opportunities will be given to businesses and organizations in the 7-County North Country REDC region: Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence Counties.
