Since 2002, Sharon O’Brien has worked with communities along many of the Adirondack North Country Region’s Scenic Byways to create regional plans. The Corridor Management Plans outline how stakeholders along the route can address the future of their Byway route and develop tourism and economic benefits. Through grassroots planning sessions, representatives from towns, cities and villages identify local economic and community development issues and opportunities, set goals, and make recommendations on how to best enhance and promote their communities and local resources. During 2000-2002, O’Brien managed the $1M Ice Storm Recovery Program – a partnership between ANCA and NYSDEC that benefited communities impacted by the 1998 ice storm.
