APPENDIX C: Adirondack North Country Association Partnerships and Public Outreach: 1) By leveraging New York State funding, ANCA contracted with a wide-range of organizations and businesses for services and programs throughout the Adirondack North Country region. Program funding was administered by ANCA to directly benefit numerous Adirondack North Country organizations and support their ability to provide services and programs in the region. A listing of these organizations is attached as Appendix D. 2) Organizational Capacity: As demonstrated through the wide-range of funding sources and partnerships, ANCA has the organizational capacity to provide services and programs in the five core programs areas of Agriculture, Natural Resources, Enterprise and Community Development, Tourism and Services and Culture. ANCA utilizes a small program and administrative staff headquartered in Saranac Lake and also provides contracted services in program areas such as Crafts Industry Development, Bikeway and Recreational Planning, amongst others. While the scope of project activity has changed from year-to-year, ANCA has had a sustained commitment to building a diversified regional and local economy through support of the creativity and entrepreneurship within a wide-range of business sectors in the areas of primary and secondary wood products, giftware manufacturers, artisans, retailers, agricultural producers, tourism services, and entrepreneurial networks. In addition, ANCA has provided planning and grant writing assistance to numerous community initiatives, including the restoration of the Depot in Saranac Lake with the Depot Working Committee; the TOBIE bicycle path in the Central Adirondacks with CAP-21 and the Towns of Inlet and Webb; the Saranac Lake/ Lake Placid Bicycle Pathway with the Town of North Elba, amongst others. In addition, ANCA has initiated community planning work along the major road corridors of the Adirondack, Olympic and Central Adirondack Byways. ANCA provided an organizational umbrella to Lakes to Locks, Inc., including contractual and fiscal management from 2000 – 2004, and supported their incorporation as a not-for-profit in January 2003. ANCA has also signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Town and Village of Tupper Lake to provide community planning services to the development of the Preserve at Tupper Lake project, the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks, and revitalization efforts for the Main Street and waterfront. In 2005, ANCA developed a partnership with the Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages that resulted in the submission of a Adirondack Park Regional Assessment Project to the NYSDOS for Quality Community Funding. 3) Organizational Outreach: ANCA maintains the following database listings to make it possible to communicate with businesses, municipalities and residents on a wide range of marketing, business, recreational planning and regional coordination needs: 700+ wood based companies 2000+ giftware retail businesses 1200+ giftware, artisan and craft businesses 400+ agriculture producers fourteen county Cooperative Extension Offices local and regional Chamber of Commerces municipal databases for the fourteen counties hundreds of byway planning participants hundreds of bicycle enthusiasts in support of the Adirondack Park Mountain Bicycling Initiative (APMBI) hundreds of canoe and kayak enthusiasts in support of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail 4) Online Communications: ANCA supports a variety of websites to promote business activity in the Adirondack North Country region:
