With its mix of spectacular mountains, lakes and rivers, its diverse villages and hamlets, and its deep culture and history, the Adirondack North Country region attracts people interested in venturing into wilderness areas, exploring diverse communities, and discovering local food and culture.
The Adirondack Park, 6 million acres within the Adirondack North Country, is within a day’s drive of 90 million people, and sees an estimated 6 million visitors each year, coming from New York City, New England and Canadian cities. Running through the entire region are 15 Scenic Byways, serving as the lifelines that connect newcomers to more than 200 dynamic communities along the more than 2,000 miles of routes. In those destinations, you’ll find residents who treasure the region’s long, rich history, and celebrate our cultural traditions everyday.
Through Byway planning, marketing, stewardship, and other projects, ANCA empowers communities to reap the benefits of these important tourism assets.
