Four-State Governors Support Recommendations of the North East State Foresters Association ![]() Cover page of Northern Forest Lands Council 10th Anniversary Forum Final Report In the summer of 2005 the Northern Forest Lands Council 10th Anniversary Forum Final Report: Recommendations for the Conservation of the Northern Forest was released. The four-state Governors-George Pataki of New York, Jim Douglas of Vermont, John Lynch of New Hampshire and John Baldacci of Maine-all expressed their support for the report recommendations. Their combined letter notes that, "The four Governors stand ready to work with the Region's Congressional delegation to advance, as the report indicates, "bold new strategies …to link economic and community opportunities to foster stewardship, conservation and industrial uses." Terry Martino of ANCA was a New York Forum Member. Other New York members included Graham Cox of Audubon, New York; Sloane Crawford of NYSDEC; Rob Davies of NYSDEC and New York State Forester; Francis Sheehan of NYSDEC, and Robert Stegemann of International Paper. The New York members participated with industry representatives and landowners from the three states of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine in the development of the report recommendations.
