Future Visions for the North Country Annual Meeting Luncheon and Forum on November 30, 2006 Saranac Lake, NY - The Adirondack North Country Association will host its Annual Meeting Luncheon and Forum on November 30, 2006 at the Hotel Saranac in Saranac Lake, NY. The afternoon session will begin at 1:00 PM, following a noon luncheon, and will feature survey research that has been conducted by Graham Cox and Jon Erickson of the University of Vermont, and William Porter and Annie Woods of SUNY-ESF’s Adirondack Ecological Center. The afternoon forum – "Change By Design: Future Visions for the North Country " – captures interesting viewpoints from local and regional community members about the future of environmental stewardship and economic development: Is there a preference for locally owned businesses? Do community members value the rural quality of our region? Can our communities enjoy the benefits of 21st century technology? How would community members prioritize their investment commitments if they had a choice? The public is invited to join the research team to learn about current findings. The research involved focus sessions with 4 groups in 15 separate meetings with 220 stakeholders in the Tug Hill, Adirondack North Country and Northern Forest. During the research, community members defined their investment priorities in relation to current legislative policy initiatives. An Open Group Discussion will take place between 2:00 - 3:00 PM at which time the audience is invited to share ideas and priorities for economic and environmental investment for North Country communities and respond to the research findings. Tim Holmes of Holmes and Associates will offer his commentary on the results. There will be a Summary Discussion and Closing Remarks to conclude the presentation at 3:30 PM. Please plan to attend this important afternoon forum at the Adirondack North Country Association’s Annual Meeting at the Hotel Saranac in Saranac Lake, NY on November 30. The noon luncheon will follow ANCA’s Annual Board of Directors’ Meeting that will begin at 10:00 AM. There will be a $15.00 fee for the luncheon. Please call 518-891-6200 to RSVP for the luncheon and/or to reserve for the afternoon meeting, for which there is no charge.
