ANCA Hosts Tour of The Wild Center Sept. 21 Saranac Lake, NY - The Adirondack North Country Association Board of Directors will host a luncheon and tour of The W!ld Center at the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks, Tupper Lake, New York, on September 21, 2006. Following a 10:00 AM Board of Directors’ meeting, a luncheon, prepared by the Waterside Café, will be served at 12:15 PM. The Tour of the Museum will commence at 1:15PM at the Panoramic Theater with commentary by Jon Kopp, Executive Director of the Tupper Lake Chamber of Commerce who will discuss the importance of the Museum to the Tupper Lake community. Betsy Lowe, Managing Director of the Museum will speak about museum staff successes in the development of the Center, current programming and future plans. Also scheduled to speak is Stephanie Radcliffe who is the Museum’s Director of Program Operations. Tour goers will be free to walk to the Wildlife Viewing Center and take advantage of the boardwalk on the Oxbow of the Raquette River. The Boardwalk, located on the museum property along the Raquette River, will allow museum visitors to have access to the shore of the river and surrounding wetlands and for optimum viewing of native wildlife. ANCA provided $79,000 toward the construction costs of the Boardwalk Project. The Project also includes two observation decks where visitors can use binoculars for close-up nature observation. ANCA administered funding for the project from a NYS Department of Transportation TEA-21 Federal Highway Administration Scenic Byway Grant. There is a $15 reservation for the Luncheon and Tour. Plan to spend the afternoon and tour this new Adirondack North Country attraction in the Adirondack Trail and Olympic Scenic Byways Crossroad Community of Tupper Lake.
