Scenic Byway Community AnnouncementMemorandum To: Central Adirondack Trail Scenic Byway Community Stakeholders From: Sharon O’Brien, Adirondack North Country Association Re: 2007 Scenic Byway Grant Funding Date: December 19, 2006 The Adirondack North Country Association is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for a new round of byway project funding. The Federal Highway Administration has announced the availability of fiscal year 2007 discretionary funds under the National Scenic Byways Program. The New York State Scenic Byways Program has set the submission deadline as the close of business on February 9, 2007. If you are interested in working in partnership with ANCA on a byway project or in submitting your own application, please call the office at 518-891-6200 to discuss the merits of your proposed project and request details on the process. Remember to reference the Corridor Management Plan for your particular byway route to confirm that your project supports the established plan goals. Eligible project activities include: safety improvements, byway facilities, access to recreation, interpretive information, and marketing programs. If you are interested in working independently on an application, you will need project approval from ANCA before proceeding with the online application. The application form and process have changed this year and ANCA will advise interested parties as we become familiar with the new forms. For Your Information The Adirondack North Country Association will be submitting several regional project applications: 1. Birding Adventures Along the Adirondack Trail Scenic Byway 2. Wildlife Corridor Exploration Along NYS Scenic Byways (Olympic, Central Adirondack Trail and Adirondack Trail) 3. Adirondack North Country 14 County Scenic Byways Bicycling Map 4.
