About ANCA

Supporting and Uniting a Diverse Region

The Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) is a 14-county association in New York’s North Country that is committed to economic improvement. Since incorporation in 1954, ANCA has worked to create a greater sense of regional identity and pride through advocacy and promotion. ANCA is a voice for the North Country, monitoring important public policies, encouraging discussion of regional issues, and advocating changes to policies which would limit reasonable business development. Throughout its history, ANCA has promoted the message that the Adirondack North Country is a special region with unique challenges to be addressed.

Located in Northern New York, the Adirondack North Country is a massive region that covers 10,000 square miles and encompasses 14 counties. The region begins at the Mohawk River, extends to the Canadian border, and includes the area between Lake Ontario and Lake Champlain. Within its boundaries is the entire Adirondack Park, a unique combination of public and private land, as well as major cities, historic villages, hamlets, and towns.
